PAKISTAN PRESIDENT TO MEET WITH ICC

Pakistan President and Patron of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), General Pervez Musharraf, will meet with International Cricket Council (ICC) President, Malcolm Gray, and ICC Vice President Eshan Mani, in Islamabad tomorrow to discuss issues surrounding Pakistan cricket.

Terrorist attacks in Pakistan have recently disrupted the country's international cricketing program and the meeting will provide the ICC with the opportunity to discuss these issues and the steps being taken to address the safety concerns some nations have over travelling to the country.

Mr Gray said that the meeting would provide a good opportunity for the ICC to get a better understanding of the situation in Pakistan.

"Pakistan cricket is dealing with a number of very difficult challenges and the ICC is anxious to ensure that it has a full understanding of the facts and to provide assistance where it is possible," said Mr Gray.

"As both the President of the nation and the Patron of the PCB, Gen Pervez Mursharraf will be able to help us better understand the challenges facing the PCB and possible areas in which the ICC can assist."

PCB Chairman, Lt General Tauqir Zia, will accompany Mr Gray and Mr Mani to the meeting.

Mr Gray and Mr Mani are in Pakistan to attend the ICC Development Committee meeting taking place in Lahore which brings together the key cricket development people from around the world to help guide the growth of cricket.

Cricket is played in 84 countries with the commercial activities of the ICC helping to fund the growth of the game around the world.
