Warne grabs four wickets as Pakistan collapse

SHARJAH: Australia's bowlers, led by Shane Warne, scythed through Pakistan's batting to reduce them to 50 for nine at lunch on a dramatic opening morning of the second test on Friday.

Glenn McGrath started the collapse by removing Imran Nazir with the sixth ball of the match and Brett Lee then bowled Taufeeq Umar off an inside edge with his first legitimate delivery of the next over as both openers departed for ducks after Pakistan had opted to bat.

The score had edged on to eight before McGrath then had Younis Khan caught off an edge by Andy Bichel as he played away from his body to leave Pakistan, already one down in the series, in disarray.

Abdur Razzaq was the only batsman to reach double figures with 21 as the procession continued after Warne and Bichel, replacing the injured Jason Gillespie, were brought into the attack. Leg spinner Warne removed Waqar Younis lbw for nought to give him his fourth wicket at the break and earn him figures of 9.4-3-10-4 as 28.4 overs were sent down in the opening session.

Bichel chipped in with two wickets. The first match was staged in Colombo with the second and third tests in Sharjah after Australia refused to tour Pakistan because of security concerns.
