Ntini takes three as Bangladesh total 154-9

BENONI, South Africa: Makhaya Ntini took three for 28 on a lively pitch as South Africa restricted Bangladesh to a modest 154-9 in the second one day international on Sunday.

Ntini bowled aggressively, although Manjural Islam blighted his figures by taking 12 runs off his 10th and last over. Openers Javed Omar and Hannan Sarkar made a reasonable start, putting on 26 before Ntini had Sarkar caught behind for seven and then bowled Al-Shariar without scoring.

Omar and Tushar Imran added 20 for the third wicket, before Omar drove at a delivery from medium pacer Lance Klusener and was caught behind for 24.

That started a slide that claimed three wickets for 11 runs in five overs, with Allan Donald trapping Sanwar Hossain in front for eight and Alok Kapali superbly caught by Shaun Pollock at third slip off Klusener for a duck.

Tushar Imran attacked the bowling before he drove at a wide delivery by medium pacer Dale Benkenstein and was caught behind for 23 scored off 31 balls with five fours.

Captain Khaled Mashud and Khaled Mahmud shared a stand of 28 for the seventh wicket before Pollock had Mahmud caught behind for 18 with the first ball of his second spell.

Ntini struck with the fourth ball of his new spell when he bowled Mashud for 15 with an express delivery that hit the top of off stump.

Bangladesh rallied towards the end with Tapas Baishya (35 not out) and Islam (13) adding 37 off 41 balls for the ninth wicket, the biggest stand of the innings. South Africa won the first match on Thursday by 168 runs.
