COLOMBO: The final match of the 12-nation ICC Champions Trophy between India and Sri Lanka was abandoned here at R.Premadasa Stadium on Monday.
Scores: Sri Lanka 222-7 in 50 overs v India 38-1 in 8.4 overs.

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka electing to bat first collected 222 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 50 overs in the final match of the 12-nation ICC Champions Trophy against India here at R.Premadasa Stadium on Monday.
Mahela Jayawardene was the leading scorer from the home side with a blazing knock of 77, punctuated with six boundaries off 99 deliveries, Russell Arnold not out (56 runs off 101 balls), Aravinda de Silva (27 runs off 24 balls), Kumara Sangakkara (26 runs off 45 balls), Chaminda Vaas (17 runs off 10 balls), Marvan Atapattu (10 runs off 17 balls) were among the runs.
India bowled and fielded pretty well today. Zaheer Khan took three wickets for 44 while Ajit Agarkar, Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble took one wicket each.
India now require 223 runs to win the match in fifty overs at an asking rate of 4.46 runs per over.

Jayasuriya decides to bat first
COLOMBO: Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the rain-hit final of the Champions Trophy at R Premadasa Stadium on Monday.
Muttiah Murlitharan is playing his 200th One-day International match with umpire Steve Bucknor of West Indies supervising his 100th One-day International match.
