I will not be contesting for PCB chairmanship: Tauqir 

LAHORE: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Lt General Tauqir Zia announced here on Friday that he would not be a candidate for the chairmanship of the Board when its elections takes place in near future.

"At the moment I do not think that I would be in run. Let someone else come and take the charge. I have also other important things to do in my career as a militaryman," he told reporters at a news conference at Gadaffi Stadium. 

To a question, he said, he had done a lot for the improvement of the game by strengthening its base and, with the functioning of national and regional academies, cricket will touch new heights in Pakistan. 

During his almost three-year stint as Chairman PCB, Tauqir has presented a Vision 2005 development programme which aims at promoting the game at all levels.
