Sweeping series victory for Pakistan A

LAHORE: Medium pacer Yasar Arafat's five victims helped Pakistan 'A' thrash touring Sri Lanka by 34 runs in the third and final limited over match here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday, clinching the series 3-0. The hosts has already defeated the visitors in previous two matches of the series played at Multan and Faisalabad with huge margin. 

Home side captain Naved Latif electing to bat first scored 244 for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. 

Wicketkeeper batsman Kmran Akmal displayed some good stroke-play while sharing the first wicket stand of 108 with another gusty left-hander Salman Butt who scored 44. 

Kamran Akmal scored polished 72 runs off only 93 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Navid Latif scored 25 while young Saeed Bin Nasir remained unbeaten with 43 to his credit. 

Right-arm leg-spinner Lokuarachchi and skipper Samraweera shared three wickets each. 

Skipper Samaraweera (74) and Lokuarachchi (63) remaind together at the crease for a 112 runs partnership.

Scores: Pakistan A 244-8 in 50 overs (Salman Butt 44, Kamran Akmal 72, Saeed Bin Nasir 43*; *T Samaraweera 3-40, K Lokuarachchi 3-47, C Jayasinghe 2-30) bt Sri Lanka A 210 in 47.2 overs (*T Samaraweera 74, K Lokuarachchi 63; Yasir Arafat 5-28, Irfanuddin 3-51, Junaid Zia 2-43) by 34 runs.
