West Indies Cricket Board fire CEO

ST MICHAEL, Barbados: The West Indies Cricket Board have fired their chief executive officer for lack of performance, a statement said on Thursday.

The services of Gregory Shillingford, 54, of Dominica, were terminated on Wednesday following "consideration of a report on his performance conducted by the Review and Assessment Committee, a review of the evaluation process, and comments from each board member."

The statement said the decision was unanimous.

Shillingford, who was appointed in October 2000 under former Jamaican Cricket Board president Pat Rousseau, could not immediately be reached for comment. He replaced Steve Camacho.

Barbadian Roger Brathwaite, who joined the board as chief marketing executive in May 2002, will act as CEO until one is appointed.
