Gilchrist passes fitness test

BRISBANE, Australia: Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was discharged from hospital on Tuesday and cleared to play in the series-opening cricket Test against England. 

Gilchrist was hospitalized overnight for treatment to an infected right elbow. Australian team physiotherapist Errol Alcott said Gilchrist would train with the squad today and would be fit for the first Test starting Thursday at the Gabba in Brisbane.
