'Tauqir's resignation a 'must' to save cricket's future'

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistani fast bowler Sarfraz Nawaz has said that President General Pervez Musharraf should accept the resignation of Lt. General Tauqir Zia, as he has failed to handle the current situation.

He said on Tuesday it had become clear a long time ago that it will happen eventually. He said the resignation of Tauqir Zia is a proof that the matter is out of his hands now. "He (Tauqir) has accepted his failure and the acceptance of his resignation is really a 'must' to save the future of Pakistan cricket," he added.

The former Test cricketer said the whole nation is suffering the humiliation today after the shocking defeat from Australia due to the policies of PCB.

He said the people who were asking President Musharraf not to accept his resignation have some personal interests, which they want to get from the Board. Sarfraz came down hard on PCB, saying that due to its policy Pakistan team had to face the worst defeat in its history.
