WI fined for slow over-rate

VADODARA, India: International Cricket Council match referee Mike Proctor has fined the West Indies five percent of their match fees for a slow bowling overrate during Friday's fourth limited-over international against India. "The West Indies were two overs behind when bowling in the Ahmadabad match.

They have been fined five percent of the match fees,'' Proctor said Sunday on the eve of the fifth one-dayer in the western city of Vadodara. On Friday, the West Indies failed to defend its total of 324 for four in 50 overs as India cantered to 325 for five in 47.4 overs, bringing the score to 2-2 in the seven-match series.

"There were several stoppages during the game owing to ball changes, and also when it got wet,'' Proctor said. "But the West Indies bowlers were still slow in going through the overs.''
