Ganguly rested for last two one-dayers

BARODA: Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has been rested for the last two one-day internationals against West Indies due to a back injury. Rahul Dravid will lead the team in Ganguly's absence.

"Ganguly is struggling with his back and will be rested," Karunakaran Nair, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said after a selection committee meeting on Monday.

Ganguly said on Sunday he might withdraw from the final two games in Jodhpur (November 21) and Vijaywada (November 24) to be with his father, who is set to undergo his second heart bypass operation in England later this month.

West Indies lead the seven-match series 3-2. The Indian selectors also left out seamer Lakshmipathy Balaji, who went for 44 runs from four overs in his debut match on Monday, and all-rounder Jaiprakash Yadav.
