Maher hits ton to lead Queensland to victory 

SYDNEY: Jimmy Maher smashed a century to lead Queensland to a 46-run win over New South Wales in a Australian interstate limited-overs match on Sunday. 

Maher belted 119 off 140 balls to help Queensland reach an imposing total of 287 for four from their 50 overs. 

Lee Carseldine and Clinton Perren also posted half-centuries as Queensland's batsmen tore into the bowlers on a warm and sunny day at the Gabba in Brisbane. New South Wales, who beat the Queenslanders at home in Sydney a week ago, were always struggling after losing both openers cheaply. 

They eventually finished on 241 for eight despite solid contributions from Michael Clarke (43) and Simon Katich (41).
