Pakistan students capture cricket title in Cairo

CAIRO: Pakistan students cricket team from Al-Azhar University Cairo won the Al-Azhar Cricket Championship beating England's students team by 6 wickets.

The championship is organized every year under auspices of Sports Committee of the varsity.

Students from cricket playing countries Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh and Afghanistan feature in this tournament.

Pakistan Students team has been winning the championship continuously for the last four years. Batting first England were all out for 95 runs, with Anwar 28 and Mujahid 28 being the main scorers. Muhammad Zahid captain of Pakistan took 5-18 and Muhammad Shabbir 3-15.

In reply Pakistan team achieved the target for the loss of 4 wickets. Subhanullah Johar scored 50 and Iftikhar 35 runs. Subhan was declared Man of the Match.

Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt Anwer Kamal was the chief guest at the prize distribution.
