PCB conduct scrutiny of women cricketers

LAHORE: The two-day scrutiny of Lahore-based Women Cricket Association concluded here at Gadaffi Stadium on Tuesday as a first step to resolve the long standing issue of Pakistan Women Cricket Association.

The scrutiny was carried out by a special committee set up by PCB to settle the issue after hearing the point of view of all factions and determine their genuineness. The first briefing session, held on Oct 28, was attended by all the representatives of Pakistan Women Cricket Control Association (Shaiza Said Khan group) and Pakistan Women Cricket Association (Shirin Javed group) in which the procedure of scrutiny was explained by the chairman of the committee, Javed Zaman Khan.

Shaiza Said Khan and Kirin Baloch attended the briefing as observers. A total of 16 cricket clubs affiliated with Pakistan Women Cricket Association (Shirin Javed Group) submitted proformas for scrutiny to the PCB. Nine clubs of PWCA (Shirin Javed group) were scrutinized on October 28 and 29.

"The remaining seven clubs will be scrutinized on November 2," said a spokesman of the PCB here on Wednesday. "The Scrutiny Committee is proceeding to Faisalabad on November 1 to scrutinize five other clubs of PWCA (Shirin Javed Group)," he said. "The final report regarding Women scrutiny will be submitted to the chairman of the PCB during the month of Ramazan," he maintained.
