Ex-PCB chief criticises Tauqir's policies

KARACHI: A function organized in honour of Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq in Lahore on Sunday saw former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Khalid Mehmood getting critical of some of the present Board's policies. Khalid Mehmood, who is also patron-in-chief of P&T Gymkhana which held the function for Razzak, was particularly unhappy with some comments made by the PCB Chairman Lt General Tauqir Zia on the performance of his predecessors.

Khalid Mehmood made a point of raising this issue and noted that Tauqir Zia had been critical of the performance of his predeccessors and felt they knew nothing about the game.

The former PCB Chairman pointed out that former Pakistan captain Abdul Hafeez Kardar had also remained president of the Board and his contribution to Pakistan cricket could not be understated. Mehmood also spoke on the issue of blooding too many young players.

However, Tauqir Zia when he spoke made the point that since the function was held to honour Abdul Razzaq he would not like to comment on his performance or respond to the speech of Khalid Mehmood and would stick to the subject for which the function was organized.
