Nehra confident of Asia Cup success

NEW DELHI: Speedster Ashish Nehra on Saturday said he was looking to put into use his past experience in Sri Lanka to help his side win the upcoming Asia Cup in the Island nation.

"I have been to Sri Lanka in 1999 and also 2001. So I am well-acquainted with the place. I am looking forward to play there and help the team do well," the 25-year-old Nehra told reporters here.

Nehra made his Test debut in Sri Lanka in 1999 and also played a one-day series in the country in 2001.

The left-arm seamer said he was completely fit to resume action at the highest level after playing just one Test in the historic Indo-Pak series in March-April.

"If you keep on playing for 10 months at a stretch injuries are bound to happen.

"I am fit to play. I have done a lot of training and the Chennai conditioning camp was very very helpful."

Nehra said he was happy to see so many fast bowlers coming up.

"It's good that so many new fast bowlers are coming up. It enables a fast bowler to take rest if he is injured."

The Delhi seamer rated India as favourites to win the six-nation competition, starting on July 16.

"We are no doubt favourites to win the Cup as we are a very balanced side. We will do our best to win it."
