‘India can win Test series comfortably’
MUMBAI: Praising the Indian cricketers for "winning hearts along
with matches", former president of the BCCI Raj Singh Dungarpur on
Saturday said if the team continued to perform the way they did in
the tour so far they can win the series comfortably.
"I was there in Pakistan during the One-Day series and the
camaraderie among the players is to be seen to be believed. There is
no doubt that the confidence of the team is very high and I won't be
surprised if they win the series handsomely", Dungarpur said on the
sidelines of the acres club inauguration function here.
Patting the Indian team for their off the field conduct, he said, “I
think the players have followed our Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpaee's advise of winning hearts along with matches to perfection.
I am sure they will come back triumphant and with many happy
memories as the Pakistan people simply loved these dashing
cricketers where ever they went.”
The former BCCI president, however, expressed "disappointment" over
the performance of wicket keeper Parthiv Patel in the first match.
"Though his batting has been improving, he has not kept wickets with
confidence. There is no doubt that he started off as a promising
wicketkeeper but is yet to perform to his potential.
"If he wants to contribute to this historic series, he has to pull
up his socks fast and deliver as soon as possible," he added.
