'Rawalpindi Express' wants to reach Lahore on time

RAWALPINDI: Pakistani pace spearhead Shoaib Akhtar said he needs to put in his best performance in the second cricket Test against India, starting on Monday in Lahore, to keep the series alive.

"I (Rawalpindi Express) will have to arrive at Lahore on time or it will be too late," Shoaib said.

Admitting that the Indian team was in a better frame of mind, he said the series was far from over.

"We had bounced back with a bang in the past and can do so here again," Shoaib said, adding "we will have to treat the Lahore match as the final Test."

Referring to the 'greentop' strip prepared for the Test, Shoaib agreed it will help the fast bowlers and predicted that the match may not go the full distance.

"It won't be a long Test match," the speedster said.

"But it will be a thrilling and happening match," Shoaib said.

Referring to his performance in the Multan Test, which India won by an innings and 52 runs to record their first-ever Test win on Pakistani soil, the speedster said he tried very hard on an unresponsive pitch.

"I was trying hard and my rhythm was good. But, now it is a different wicket in Lahore and we have to learn from our mistakes," Shoaib said.
