We exploited Sachin's weakness: Gul
LAHORE: "Getting Sachin Tendulkar out off the
in-cutter was a plan and it worked," Umar Gul, Pakistan's
19-year-old star of the day, said of the most important of his five
Indian scalps on the first day of the Lahore Test.
The young fast bowler said that Pakistan camp feels Tendulkar has a
weakness against the ball coming in.
"He has that little chink especially when he first comes in to
bat," he said in a knowing a tone.
Umar, with five for 31 on Day One, said: "This was the plan
laid out by coach Javed bhai. He told us (bowlers) specifically to
pitch the ball up to Tendulkar and make it seam into him. "By
God's grace, it worked." Tendulkar was out leg before to the
19-year-old for two, and India were reeling for 75 for three.
Umar also revealed that the Pakistan think tank believes that Rahul
Dravid is the most difficult batsman to dislodge. "For him, the
plan is to keep pegging away in the corridor of uncertainty and just
hope that he will make a mistake. There is no apparent weakness in
his batting we feel," he said.
