15 arrested for running cricket betting rackets
NEW DELHI: Cracking down on cricket bookies, Delhi Police have in four separate operations arrested 15 persons for running betting rackets that had booked satta worth several lakhs of rupees.
Raids were carried out on Tuesady in Chandni Chowk, Kalyan Puri, Jheel and Sultan Puri areas of the capital, in which apart from the 15 arrests, huge recoveries of accessories used in betting were made, police said.
Four persons were arrested in a raid in Chandni Chowk for running a satta racket and during interrogation they revealed they had booked satta of Rs 21 lakh through phone, police said.
In an operation in Sultan Puri, police arrested two persons, unearthing a betting racket to the tune of Rs 25 lakh.
While four persons were nabbed for running cricket satta in Kalyan Puri and papers depicting deals of close to Rs one lakh recovered from them, five persons were arrested in a raid in Jheel area.
