PCB to give farewell to Younis

LAHORE : The Pakistan Cricket Board is planning to give a warm farewell to fast bowler Waqar Younis, who is to announce his retirement from international cricket during the third and final Test between India and Pakistan in Rawalpindi .

The farewell would be given during the series-deciding Test match, starting at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

"We have decided to bid him adieu on the second day of the final Test," PCB Chief Executive Rameez Raja told reporters here.

Raja said Younis, who is currently in New Delhi to provide expert comments to a television network on the Indo-Pak series, has reportedly informed the PCB of his plans to retire from cricket.

Younis, one of the leading fast bowlers in the world, lost captaincy as well his place in the side after Pakistan 's disastrous performance in 2003 World Cup in South Africa.

Raja said the PCB plans to use Younis' services to train young bowlers in local academies.
