Pindi Cricket Stadium needs a facelift: PCB chief

Rawalpindi: The PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan said on Sunday that there was an urgent need to improve the facilities at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium and bring them up to international standards.

"There is nothing wrong with the ground and pitches there are very good. But the facilities are lacking for the players and officials. The dressing rooms need to be upgraded as there is not enough space in them," he said.

Pakistan and India play the second one-dayer on Tuesday at the Pindi stadium and the third test is also scheduled from April 13 at the same venue.

The PCB chief felt that when the stadium was built proper attention and detail had not been paid to the facilities for players, officials, spectators and even the media.

"The problem is the stadium is not our property and comes under the control of the local administration there. We have however played our role in carrying out some up gradation work at the stadium but we do require more cooperation from the administration of the stadium," he said.

He also agreed that there was need to increase the capacity of cricket stadiums in the country particularly in the big cities.
