1500 fake tickets seized in fourth ODI: Shaharyar

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board seized around 1500 fake tickets and denied entry to such ticket holders during the fourth one-day international between Pakistan and India here on Sunday.

This was stated by the Chairman PCB, Shaharyar Khan at a news conference who was flanked by the Chief Executive PCB, Rameez Raja here on Monday at the Gadaffi Stadium. "It is a breakthrough in history of Pakistan and we are glad that our hard work to introduce computerised tickets has produced productive results," he said.

Displaying fake tickets, which also had the code bar and special insignia of Pakistan, he said, scanner failed to recognise such tickets and those who presented them were not allowed to enter the stadium.

He said the fake tickets were printed in large number and were sold around the stadium to the innocent public, which did not have the technical knowledge to judge them.

Chairman PCB admitted that despite seizure of fake tickets mismanagement was seen and people without tickets entered the stadium in connivance with law enforcing agencies deputed on the entry gates of the stadium.

"To avoid it in the final match on March 24,we will be deputing PCB staff on various gates to stop illegal entries," he said. He said PCB would provide better facilities to the public during the final one day by providing free drinking water.
