Procter appointed match
referee for Kenya tri-series
KARACHI: The International Cricket Council (ICC)
Thursday appointed former South African allrounder Mike
Procter as match referee to oversee the upcoming
tri-series in Kenya.
Pakistan, world champions Australia and Kenya will take
part in the series to be held August 29-September 7.
It was scheduled for Pakistan but was shifted to a
neutral venue after the Australian Cricket Board said it
wouldn't tour Pakistan citing security concerns.
Australia's refusal to play in Pakistan came after a
spate of terror attacks against westerners and
Christians. The series was plunged into further trouble
when New Zealand declined to take part in the event,
forcing Pakistan to include minnows Kenya.
All three teams will play on a double league basis with
the top two teams contesting the final.
South African Rudi Koertzen and Zimbabwean Russel Tiffin
will stand as the ICC neutral umpires while Pakistan's
Aleem Dar, Nadeem Ghouri and Asad Rauf will act as home
umpires.
Programme:
Aug 29: Pakistan v Kenya
Aug 30: Pakistan v Australia
Sept 1: Pakistan v Kenya
Sept 2: Australia v Kenya
Sept 4: Pakistan v Australia
Sept 5: Australia v Kenya
Sept 7: Final
