Ganguly fears India's
inexperience
LONDON: The Indian cricket touring party arrived in
London with what their captain has described as an Òinexperienced
pace attack.Ó Skipper Sourav Ganguly said Javagal
Srinath's retirement meant India would face their hosts
with a line-up lacking in local knowledge. "Of all
the quick bowlers, only Ajit Agarkar has experience of
conditions in England," said Ganguly.
Agarkar played for India in the 1999 World Cup in
England, while pacemen Ashish Nehra, Zaheer Khan and
Tinu Yohannan will be on their maiden tour of the
country. Ganguly said he had asked Srinath to rethink
his decision to retire, but without success. Ganguly
also insisted there was no problem between him and
Srinath. "I certainly didn't have a problem with
our most experienced fast bowler." India start the
83-day tour to England with a match with Sussex on
Saturday.
Then they will take part in a triangular one-day series
from June 27, also involving Sri Lanka, before playing a
four-Test series against England.
