Pak-Australia series:
$75,000 up for grabs
BRISBANE: The Australian Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday
released details of the TOWER Ton, a promotion that
provides cricket fans attending TOWER Super Challenge-II
between Pakistan and Australia with the chance to share
in $75,000 cash.
A $25,000 prize will be up for grabs at all three
matches of the series, if either of the following events
occur: If a bowler from either team delivers a legal
ball at, or exceeding 100mph (160.9km); or if any
batsman scores 100 runs from 100 deliveries or less.
The TOWER Ton will work in the following manner: At the
second drinks break of the first innings, 10 seat
numbers selected randomly by a computer, will be
displayed on the replay screen. The 10 patrons will be
invited onto the field during the innings break, where
another draw will take place to select one contestant
eligible to win the jackpot. Ten cricket balls will be
placed in separate boxes on a table in the middle of the
ground. Each patron will be asked to select a box. Nine
boxes will contain Kanga cricket balls. One box will
contain a white cricket ball. The patron who selects the
box containing the white ball will be eligible to win
the $25,000 prize.
If the prize money is activated in the first innings,
the $25,000 cheque will be presented during the innings
break. If the prize money is activated in the second
innings, the $25,000 cheque will be presented at the end
of the match. The prize money will only be available
once during a match.
The $25,000 prize is available for all three matches,
but will not double, or indeed triple if the money isn't
awarded in matches one, two or three.
The speed gun, supplied by industry experts IDS Sports
is consistent with the speed measurement displayed on
Channel Nine's television coverage. The prize money for
the TOWER Ton has been made available by the series'
principal sponsor, TOWER.
